Pro Massage & Chiropractic was created though a clear understanding of the skeletal structure as it interacts with the muscular system to eliminate or manage the pain caused by structural dysfunction and injury. When the musculoskeletal system is aligned and relaxed, you will “Experience the Difference,” and feel your body pain ease.
As we move through life, different things influence our posture as well as the structure including injuries, accidents, repetitive motion as well as being sedentary. Chronic and acute conditions can be addressed, through chiropractic care and massage therapy, to achieve a level of optimal health and experience a more pain free life.
We offer a solution to help you feel the best you can by helping you identify not only the source of your pain but also the actions that could be causing it. From there we can help you find another way of doing a task or help you to manage it.
Chronic pain is something that usually needs managing. For instance, if you are a professional guitar player and the repetitive action of playing the Guitar is the cause of your pain. We can help you manage it by teaching you simple techniques to keep the pain at bay, rather than having you change careers or live with the pain.
We have created a place where you can get your musculoskeletal system evaluated to identify the source of your pain. Then create an individualized plan to help your body feel better all over.
Understanding The Body
So, what does that mean? The body in motion (keeping this simple) is supported by the bony structure. The muscles move the structure and the conscious brain tells you how to move. Your brain moves your body the way that it is trained or the innate way your brain knows where you are and how you move in space.
Our bodies help us do our everyday tasks. It helps us create muscles and postures so that we can do a repetitive task, whether that be sitting at a desk all day, the repetitive tasks of a factory line, or driving nails in wood all day whatever the task, your muscular structure helps the body adapt.
Training The Body
Our bodies are amazing in that it keeps us moving and in as little pain as possible. However, that can also create problems for the structure. Remember a time you did a task for the first time — the next day you probably felt a little sore from using muscles a way your body wasn’t used to, but after a while that goes away and you can do it longer and longer till your body is trained. Your body may have adapted by sacrificing proper posture to avoid pain. Postural changes due to skeletal misalignment results in muscle imbalances. It’s a vicious cycle which can continue down a path of disaster.
A common injury can help you understand how our bodies adapt. When you twist or sprain an ankle, your body cannot step the way it did before the sprain, so you start to limp. Then your body has you adjust how you walk to compensate for that pain. For a couple of weeks or so you maintain this new walk until one day you notice you can put more weight on it. So you start to walk more normally. This is where our body needs a little help to get back to a proper gait. Since you had been walking with your foot in a different position for so long, you trained the muscular structure to keep the foot in a different position, so although your foot may feel better, your gait has changed and you are now using your leg differently. By releasing the newly trained muscles and consciously retraining your foot to face “the right way” (this takes a little effort) your gait should return to normal.
