Chiropractic Massage Services in Nashville, TN
Chiropractic care is not all about backbones. Current evidence supports the fact that the entire nervous, muscular, and skeletal systems play a vital role in maintaining your body’s wellness. If the skeletal system isn’t working properly, the muscles work against each other, this in turn put stress on the nervous system which affects every other system in the body.
When your body is mechanically stressed beyond what it can handle, other systems are affected. Every healing process is connected to the central nervous system. Since so much is connected through your spine, taking care of your whole body including your spine is key to achieving total body wellness.
Research shows that more than 90 percent of all misalignment’s in the spine occur from daily motions and routines, such as poor posture, bad sleeping habits and incorrect bending and lifting techniques. Gently re-aligning your vertebrae into their proper place through chiropractic adjustments and regular massages can get all the systems of your body working in harmony as they are intended.
We Use Several Different Treatments Or Modalities:
When you visit our office, our receptionist will assist you in completing your initial paperwork. You will meet with our doctor to discuss your health concerns and/or pain symptoms, and determine if further examination or testing is needed.
A careful spinal examination and analysis is performed to detect any structural abnormalities which may be affecting or causing your condition. You may be tested in several different areas with special emphasis given to any area of concern. Our Nashville chiropractic massage doctors may also check cervical and lumbar range of motion as well as muscle strength. Your exam may also include: referral for x-rays, laboratory analysis and other diagnostic images, orthopedic tests, neurological tests, chiropractic balance tests, and/or a gait analysis.
What is Advanced BioStructural Correction (ABC)™
A simple idea – the body will self correct any structural shift unless there are no muscles pulling in the direction needed to make the correction.
Often the best ideas are the simplest. By understanding how the body works from a mechanical perspective, the ABC technique was designed to best correct its mechanical problems. If you restore the spine to its normal position, the secondary conditions (headaches, pain, sciatica, etc.) will begin to disappear.
Structural misalignment, according to the New England Journal of Medicine, is responsible for 97.1% of back pain in this country.
Advanced Biostructural Correction is a protocol for treating the structure of the body that allows it to find its own way home without forcing it into place. It simply unwinds like a rubber band in a child’s toy and continues until there is nothing left to unwind. The way it was when you were young. The results leave you pain free, with decreased post exercise recovery time, while providing increased flexibility, deeper and easier breathing, visible postural improvement, and a general sense of ease.
But does it work?
The test was: would it work to improve bodies consistently and predictably. After years of treating thousands of people the answer is… YES! As long as the pain was not due to cancer, fractures, infections or the like, ALL people seemed to receive consistent and predictable benefits.
How is ABC Different from Chiropractic Care?
We can all agree that the body is an amazing, self-healing organism. The main difference between the Advanced Biostructural Correction (ABC) chiropractic method and traditional chiropractic is the direction in which we adjust the bones.
Traditional chiropractic dictates that if there is any interference in how the nervous system is working, the body loses its ability to heal and self-regulate. These interferences, called subluxations, are what traditional chiropractors seek to remove.
During ABC adjustments, we do NOT adjust things that your spine or body can already fix on its own. Fixing those misalignments actually dislodges compensations that your skeleton needs. That’s why chiropractic can seem to yield unpredictable results in that some people who get traditional adjustments feel great after having the compensations removed, while other patients are left unstable and can feel even more pain than when they entered their chiropractor’s office.
With ABC, only the layer of problems that a patient presents with that day are removed. It’s a very different, comprehensive adjustment technique that addresses the ribs, spine, legs, hips, feet and the covering of the spinal cord (called the meninges, pronounced men-in-gees).
ABC has identified the specific set of structural circumstances that are the basis of most physical degenerative conditions. Physical ailments are often layered, sequentially, one on top of the other. Therefore, they must be removed in the proper sequence, which we term “unwinding”.
The simple and straightforward ABC protocol is like having the solution to a Rubik’s cube, a roadmap to full-body wellness. This powerful and unique system is the only one we are aware of that corrects body structure predictably and consistently.
Therapeutic ultrasound is often used to relax the muscles that are too tight around a joint to allow an effective chiropractic adjustment. Ultrasound is designed to provide a deep heating effect beneath the skin which encourages blood circulation and relaxation. Therapeutic Ultrasound in chiropractic care is not to be confused with “diagnostic ultrasound”, which is ultrasound that is used to see the inside of the body, such as checking on a fetus during pregnancy. Ultrasound is completely painless and the most you can expect to feel is slight warmth.
Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS)
Electrical Muscle Stimulation, or EMS, is a chiropractic therapy typically applied to a patient who has a lot of pain or spasm in the area of injury or complaint. When electrical muscle stimulation is performed, mild electrical current is applied to cause fast contraction to the muscles. Electrical muscle stimulation gives the patient a tingling sensation, which for most is very soothing.
The fast contractions of the muscle experienced during our Nashville chiropractic massage therapy helps to fatigue the muscle and allow it to relax, settling the spasm. The fast contraction also causes the body to release endorphins. The endorphins are the body’s natural pain killers, and so they help to reduce pain sensation to the area.
